Theory Therapy on Balamii - 13th March 2021
Here’s the latest episode of the Theory Therapy show on Balamii. It’s two hours of shape-shifting, often dark and sometimes strange ambient, drone and musique concrète from the likes of Pontiac Streator, mu tate and Low Flung. A large portion of the music featured came out in the last month or so and has been on heavy repeat—a few personal highlights include Jake Muir’s expansive, 20-minute sonic collage of Berlin at night: ‘Samariterstraße Cloister’, music from the mercurial encode by tau contrib (also Otilo) and Other Joe’s haunting Champagne, which came out in February on Nice Setting. There’s also several tracks in there I’ve wanted to play for a while, like Lisa Lerkenfeldt’s ‘Gates of Desire’, Ulla’s inside means inside me release and in particular OBA’s Hometime. It came out in 2019 on .jpeg artefacts and is such a uniquely brilliant release, filled with dialogue sampling and different sounds and melodies that go off in unexpected directions.
