ML602: Patrin (Low End Theorists)
Having recorded this mix at the height of our Australian summer, I wanted to capture the strong connection to the warmer temperatures and hazy afternoons we’ve been experiencing in Sydney. While I chose some ambient and downtempo bits that reflect the sounds Gary and I push on our Theory Therapy radio shows, a large portion of the music is definitely intended for dancing. The mix is really a broad medley of sounds that make up my loose definition of dance music.
It is also no coincidence a lot of the music featured in the mix is local. Even under strict pandemic restrictions, Australian dance music thrived in 2020, so it seemed natural for me to explore some of the more recent club-centric sounds I've been filling my bag with over the last year or so. There’s the odd classic joint peppered throughout too. Thanks to Mim from Mitamine Lab for having me and to all of the artists and labels I featured. I hope you enjoy the trip.
